Guidance for practical decisions
The standards developed under the Accessible Local Government 2.0 programme organise good practice for public bodies. They support project decisions but do not replace the regulations and site-specific assessment.
More than an equipment count
The guidance recommends that at least 30% of play equipment, and no fewer than one item, should be accessible. The wider design still needs step-free routes, suitable surfaces, transfer space, legible contrast and activities that children can share.
Test the complete visit
Review the journey from public transport or parking through the gate and paths to play, seating and exit. This reveals barriers hidden by a product schedule and directs the budget toward real user independence.
