Playgrounds at multifamily housing: technical rules

A residential playground cannot simply occupy the last free corner. Technical conditions affect its location, size, planting and play programme from the earliest site plan.

When a playground is required

The requirement applies to a multifamily building or group of buildings with more than 20 apartments. Minimum area depends on the unit count, and the space should support five children at the same time for every 20 m².

Location has measurable conditions

At least 30% of the playground area should be biologically active. The rules also cover sunlight, distance from selected site features, fencing and a gate at least 1.2 metres wide.

A programme for different children

The area should offer different play functions and serve multiple age groups, with equipment and surfaces selected against the relevant Polish Standards. Check these needs before roads, parking and landscape are fixed.
